I am a writer. I love to write, it is how I express myself. I have kept journals and written personal reflections most of my life. Some people are artists, sing or play an instrument, do woodworking, scrapbooking, photography, dance or quilting to express themselves but I like words. I thoroughly enjoy Facebook and connecting with friends even if it is just snippets of conversation.
I write about everything; farm life, my faith journey, family, recipes, stupid, funny things that happen, country living, life in general, history, medical adventures and occasionally world events. If you are reading this, you are on my blog.
Way back in 2011, I had a friend who kept telling me I needed to start a blog. I resisted, thinking I couldn’t. I didn’t think anyone would care to read my ramblings and couldn’t imagine I would have anything worthwhile or interesting to say. I am just an ordinary person living an ordinary life on an ordinary farm. Why would anyone find that interesting? But guess what I love writing about. The ordinary!!! My friend kept pushing and finally convinced me (thanks Karen Moseley) and in January 2012 I wrote my first blog. To date, I have written 399 posts with almost 144,000 views. In nine years I have had only one day that no one visited my blog. My most popular post was in July 2014 when I wrote about the Ebola crisis in Africa. I had 3,435 hits in one day with untold number of shares. I was told it went viral. My niece and her husband were in Liberia and were duplex neighbors with American missionary doctor, Dr. Brantly, when he contacted Ebola and was flown back to the states for care by Samaritan’s Purse.
MY PASTBOOK
This summer I saw an ad pop up on Facebook that caught my attention. It was called “My Pastbook”. It had been popping up for weeks but I had not paid any attention to it until that day. The ad said Facebook would print an assortment of pictures from my posts into a book. I was hooked and reeled in. I could hardly wait for my book to arrive. In about 8 days it arrived and it was beautiful. Gene and I both loved looking at the pictures. I was amazed at how good my pictures looked printed on quality paper in a hard bound book. I could choose the cover picture and color of book. It’s sad that we don’t print pictures anymore and to have printed pictures was a treasure book of gold!

MY SOCIAL BOOK
Shortly after, our daughter Jill ordered “My Social Book” from Facebook. This is a book filled with every post and every picture you have ever posted on Facebook. I had not seen that ad and if I had, did not realized the difference between it and “My Past Book”. When I saw hers, I realized what a history journal it would be of my life. It didn’t take long to place that order. Again, I could make choices on the colors of my book, cover pictures and design. Since I have been on Facebook since January 2008 my book has seven fascinating volumes. Facebook put it together and I did not do any editing. It would have been too big a job and I did not feel it was necessary. I had never gotten political or had any post that I was ashamed of. We have thoroughly enjoyed reliving life through “My Social Book”.

Hopefully you can see what a treasure these books are. If you do much posting or sharing pictures on Facebook this book is a definite must and so worth the money. How many of you have hard copies of all those pictures tucked in your facebook albums? What if you could never retrieve them or they were deleted?
MY BLOG: COUNTRY CHATTER-LIFE AS I KNOW IT
My daughter has been after me for several years to turn my blog into a book. That seemed like an overwhelming job and I really didn’t know how to even start or if I wanted to tackle that project. Sometimes I did worry about the possibility of my writings being lost. What would happen to it when I am gone? I never thought about checking to see if maybe a company could do it for me like these Facebook books. But now I had an idea and did a google search. I discovered that Pixxi Books would print my blog into a hard bound book. I started working with it and discovered that my blog filled a six volume series of 300 pages each. 1800 pages!!! I will warn you it is not cheap but I now have, according to my grandchildren, a encyclopedia size set of professional books of my blog. They are heavy-all six books weigh 30 lbs!!! It is almost emotional to me to look at and read my years of writing all preserved for my children and generations to come.
For me this is a treasure of gold and for my family it will probably be valued more than anything else I could leave them. If you are a blogger, you should seriously consider printing your blog. I hope this has inspired you. You will never regret it.
